- shonen ai means "boys love" and shojo-ai means "girls love" - it refers to cute and innocent images of guys or girls displaying high levels of friendship and maybe hints of puppy love towards one another.
- yaoi means "male omosexuality" and yuri means "female omosexuality". Yaoi and yuri involves intimate contact such as kissing, licking and sexual context.
- hentai stands for "porn", no more, no less.
