Life's like a big, funny playground where people play... people are so funny sometimes. But usually people are… just plain boring. Especially the ones who don't want to play the game following the rules. Rules are the salt of every game. Playing with no rules is meaningless…
Which rules? Mine, obviously. And don't ask me how these rules compare with yours, if you don't wanna be disappointed.
You could say I'm an evil man and merciless…
And I could agree.
But life is too short to waste it with these questions.
Everything comes to this: someone's holding a gun, someone's facing it.
Click.
Are you watching the gun?
I don't trust people very much… I can say that, ‘trust,’ for only a pair of them, no more. And it usually only happens when people trust me, first. People tend not to trust a man who seems always about to laugh at them. Maybe I shouldn't smile so often. Maybe I shouldn't hurt other people's feelings… but it comes so naturally to me. And I can't say I don't enjoy doing it.
Click.
I think I'm the kind of man who could laugh at his own death.
I'm smiling, just now.
People come, people go… I don't blame him 'cause he let me go, without saying a word. He's a smart man, and I respect him. I can't say what he felt about… my decision to side with the
others. To side with myself, maybe. I think he simply didn't care. We're alike in this way. Life flows, and we just want to ride it.
Life is a monstrous joke of coincidences.
People come, I said. People go. I'm still here. I'm curious to see what the next move will be.
This sound so funny I can't help but smile.
Click.
A hand skims over my cheek. It's so warm.
"Still here, my love?" Two fingers gently touch my lips. "Funny thoughts?" she asks.
I kiss her fingers and close my eyes, just for a moment. "Funny thoughts," I reply.
"It's late. You should spend your time better… I'm more interesting than a gun, aren’t I?" she adds, in her quiet voice. And she's smiling too, I bet.
I open my eyes and lean the silver gun on the desk. Life flows. It's time for myself, now.
I stand up and put an arm around her waist.
"Here we go?" she says. My quiet laugh sounds in the air.
"Let's go. I just need to have a little fun. Life is so boring, sometimes…."
Without you.
